David performs original compositions and transcriptions for solo guitar.

He began his guitar studies in Bozeman, Montana with instructors who taught him classical technique and encouraged him to consider a focus towards the classical genre. A few years later, after moving to New England, David started lessons with Randy Armstrong who at the time was with the World Group Do’ah. Randy emphasized the importance of classical technique in any style of guitar playing and focused much of the lesson material on studies which re-enforced those principles.

David began teaching guitar during college and also continued in private instruction. Later, he had the opportunity to study with Michael Hedges in a master class at the National Guitar Summer Workshop in Connecticut and again the following year in New York State.

He graduated from Gordon College with a BA in music composition and performance. Directly after graduating he was accepted as a student/performer in the Christopher Parkening master class at Montana State University.

In 1999, the composition "Joyful Noise" was featured on Daddy’s Junky Music Best of Massachusetts CD. He has worked in conjunction with Steven Baldwin (Playomatic Media) composing music for short films as well as lending guitar work to a number of local artist’s albums. He has more recently released the album Kinetic Edge and is currently starting work on his next album.
